Masturbation Invasion was barely out of short trousers
(not that it wears trousers... it's only a website and
it doesn't have any legs...) when we first stumbled upon Bald Girlz.
As the first
hair/bald fetish site we'd seen it immediately made a
big impression on us, as did Kat Surth, the
smooth-headed model both behind and in front of the
camera.
In the
last year Kat has let both her hair and her range of
hair fetish movies grow. As we approach our 1st birthday
we caught up with Kat to find out more about her career
and the world of hair fetish. |

Masturbation Invasion: Can you describe for us what
your modelling career was like up to the point at which
you first shaved your head?
Kat: My modelling career was very exciting as I
didn't always know what type of modeling gigs would be
sitting in my email box waiting for me. Because I'm the
adventurous type who's willing to try nearly anything at
least once (more, of course, if I like it), my modeling
career has taught me about real life, the complexity of
people, and how many different fetishes, or kinks,
exist. I've done adult modelling for photos and videos,
had fun with g/g, wet & messy fun, learned that I'm not
the bondage or spanking type, celebrated my inner domme,
and got to play a clown. I've been flown to LA, Miami,
and Chicago, among others, for video and photography
sessions. Each place was a unique experience, and it
left me with plenty of stories to tell my grandchildren
in 20 years or so.
During all this time though, I had long blonde hair and
never once thought of even going for a trim. In the
modelling world, once you have achieved a certain look,
you have to maintain it as that's what people know you
as.
But when I received a phone call from a photographer
about shaving my head, I thought "Cool, why not, hair
always grows back." And that became the start of five
years of being a bald fetish model.
M.I.: The very first time you shaved your head,
was it a spur-of-the-moment decision or had you been
toying with the idea for some time.
Kat: I’ve had very short hair as a child a few
times, but never extremely short. When the photographer
called, I did take a day or two to think about it. I did
buy a wig in case the bald look wasn’t for me, and I
brought it with when I flew to Detroit for the
photography session. I admit, I was a bit nervous when I
held the clippers in my hand (the photographer and I
went shopping to pick out the clippers that I would be
using later that day). But once the photographer,
Anthony Grimaldi, said, “You can still back out if you
want to.” I thought, hell no!, and immediately flicked
the clippers on and push them through my blonde mane, my
hair falling all around me and onto the floor.
M.I.: Can you describe how you felt as your hair
was first shaved off?
Kat: It felt good. I looked up at myself in the
mirror and I thought it looked awesome. I loved how the
hair fluttered around, some of the cut hair still
holding on, framing my face and then falling. When half
my head was shaved, I thought damn this is sexy! I felt
very empowered and free. The nervousness disappeared in
excitement because now I was very curious of what I
would look like bald. From what I had cut off already, I
liked how it looked, so I didn’t have to worry about
looking like a guy.
M.I.: What kind of reactions did you get from
both the general public and the hair fetish community
afterwards?
Kat: In the general public, some people thought
that I had cancer and either said, “I’m so sorry” or “I
hope the chemo is going well for you.” I’ve had some
people stare and some give me winks. A few people told
me to buy a wig. But overall, the reaction was positive.
Some women told me that they’ve also tried the bald look
before, that they would LOVE to do it, or that I’ve
inspired them to try it. Some fans wished that I would
have stayed blonde; others loved the bald look on me.
The latter have captured my heart, and even though I
have moved on from being bald myself, I still try to
create videos where empowered and beautiful women are
shaven bald.
M.I.: As well as being well known for a smooth,
shaven head you’ve also had a wide variety of radical
and interesting haircuts. Which styles did you
particularly enjoy?
Kat: I absolutely loved having a flat top.
Absolutely love it. I can’t think of a better cut that
speaks power and worship from others than that cut. (I’m
sure others will disagree, but this is my ultimate
favorite haircut on both men and women). |

M.I.: You’ve filmed and starred in many movies
and shoots. Are there any which really stand out?
Kat: For movies, many people love that spanking
video, “Renter’s Dream,” directed by Ohh Tee Kay
Productions. That video is so popular, that they created
a series of them…and have asked me back on several
occasions. But since I’m not into pain, I have politely
declined. (My butt had bruises for a month after that
video was shot).
For my own videos, I really enjoyed making “Pistol
Vegas’ Evening Shave” and Alucard’s video (this video is
currently in post production -- release date is mid to
late October). In both, the haircutting/shaving is
deeply intimate.
I’ve done so many photo shoots, and so many are my
favorite, that it’s difficult to choose just one. I’ll
quickly name a few: Shaving Steve, Kat with 30 lb Snake,
Kat in Balls (bizarre photo shoot, so fun!), and Kat
Fall Leaves. These photos sets can all be found on the
www.BaldGirlz.com site.
M.I.: Which do you prefer – being in front of or
behind the camera?
Kat:Now that I’m not really modeling anymore, I’m
more of a behind the camera…although maybe not. I enjoy
being in front and when I am filming, I make sure I’m
dressed nicely because I know I’ll end up in the video
anyway (not that anyone would complain. lol)
M.I.: Do you feel models such as yourself and
sites such a Bald Girlz help to empower naturally bald
women as well as those who enjoy shaving their heads?
Kat:I think so. I’ve received emails from
husbands saying that they showed a few select photos
from the site to their wife, and that she then wanted to
try the look herself. I’ve received emails from women
letting me know that I’ve inspired them to go even
shorter or bald. I’m happy to hear this because it shows
that people are becoming more honest with themselves and
their loved ones. It opens communication and sometimes
that leads to their desires being fulfilled. It’s much
better to have taken a risk, than to live in regret and
sadness. Life is supposed to be a celebration and
enjoyment, so if you want to shave your head or go for a
cuter shorter cut, go for it! Hollywood is helping to
prove that bald women are hot; it seems like every year
at least one celebrity is shearing her hair and is happy
about it. I want all people to understand that baldness,
whether is occurs naturally or is by choice, is sexy and
beautiful. No woman should ever be made to feel ashamed
of her style of hair or lack of it. Bald is hot.
 |
M.I.: What are your top tips for someone
who is about to go bald for the first time?
Kat: A). Have an assistant. Shaving your head for
the first time may feel overwhelming…mostly due to the
amount of shaving and trying to make sure that there are
no missed spots. It’s also enjoyable to have someone
else there, because your freshly bare skin is an
erogenous zone (once you hop in the shower, and feel
that warm water tickle your scalp, you’ll know exactly
what I’m talking about *wink*). |
B.) Hot lather is best. After using a clippers without a
guard (try to use a clipper blade that is #000000, or is
as short as it can possibly get), cover your entire head
with hot shaving cream/lather. Let this sit for at least
3-5 minutes. You can cover this with a steamy hot towel
too. This softens up the stubble and will make shaving a
lot easier. If your assistant knows how to use a
straight-edge razor, I highly recommend that. Otherwise,
keep 5-6 disposable razors on hand. You might not use
all of them, but it’s better to have them than have to
run out to buy more. There’s a razor that uses a battery
and the razor vibrates as it shaves. I found that to
work extremely well, and it gives a pleasant feeling on
the skin.
M.I.: Are there any hairstyles or colours you’ve
not tried yet but would love to in the future?
Kat: I’ve always wanted to try the a-line bob.
And I’ve always wanted to dye my hair bright pink. The
bob that I received wasn’t as short as I would have
liked, but it can always be cut again. *smile* I hope to
have time during this week to dye my hair neon pink. I
bought a clear coat and special shampoo in order for the
color to become more permanent.
M.I.: Are you surprised by how big the market for
bald and hair fetish content has become?
Kat: Actually I am. I can’t do anything to my
hair without filming it! Otherwise, if someone sees my
new look, I will get asked, “Why didn’t you tape it?”
(Yes, this has happened before).
But the good thing about having such a large market is
that people with a hair fetish realize that they are not
alone. There are thousands of other people, just like
them, who find it incredibly sexy that a woman
cuts/curls/dyes/shaves her hair and enjoys it.
M.I.: Do you think that sites such as yours have
inspired people to be more creative and adventurous with
their own hair?
Kat: Yes! I think most people need to see that
there are others taking a risk and having fun. Some just
need that push to try it themselves. Sometimes, it’s
just people who are bored with the same old thing, who
when they see something different are like, wow, I want
to try that too.
M.I.: Have you ever had a hair cut or style that
you’ve regretted?
Kat: Once when I was in high school, I had long
brunette hair that I had permed. After a few months it
turned frizzy. I couldn’t stand it anymore and visited
an older stylist to cut it off into a bob (I didn’t know
it was called a bob back then, I tried to explain it,
but obviously I explained it wrong). When she was done,
I had a block haircut. I hated it. For many months after
that, I wore my hair slicked back with lots of gel and
mouse until it got long again…and then a friend bleached
it blonde. From then on, I was a blonde. *smile*
M.I.: What’s next for you and for your excellent
collection of websites?
Kat: That’s a great question, but I don’t know
the answer to that. For right now I hope to do a series
with my perm machine. Of course, there will be other
kinds of videos too (haircutting/shaving/etc). I would
like to start perming men with the machine, and I would
like to do more domme stuff again. But due to time or
interest, things may change, so I never truly know what
I’m going to do until I start booking models, stylists,
locations, etc.
Also, I’d like to continue with my “Bad Bambi”
photography series. I have several images that are just
sitting on my computer, waiting to be brought out and
put on display. Maybe next year.
Whatever I do decide to do next, you’ll know that I’m
enjoying what I’m doing, enjoying life, and having as
much fun as I possibly can.
Whatever
does lay ahead for Kat, we'll be watching her hair
fetish sites grow with excitement and interest, and we
wish her all the luck for her many hair adventures to
come!
Many thanks
to Kat for taking part in our interview!
