Ahh yes, it was
VideoBox.
Don't worry though, this is no
copycat, this really is a
separate site and a separate
company. I'm not sure what site
came first, so I don't know who
is the inspiration for who here.
But it does seem odd to me that
VideoBox would be so widely
acclaimed without a single
exception yet Adult Rated
hasn't received even close to
that amount of plaudits. If I
were being cynical I might
suggest it was because they
don't offer a reciprocal link on
their front page. That would be
ever-so-cynical though.
The value-for-money
factor here is obviously a huge
draw on this site, but I always
find that the convenience is
almost as important. The chance
to take your own time to browse
for the star and title that you
want to see is always a real
draw, and bearing in mind the
fact that you will only pay
around $10 per month for a basic
subscription, you can take a
VERY long time doing so.
By the way, I wouldn't bother
forking out for the 'premium'
package, the only additional
feature is the 'DVD' quality
downloads you can access, and
they're not so much better that
they justify an extra $5 per
month.
The package is extensive and as
you would expect covers plenty
of niches and genres, as well as
the biggest stars and studios.
An advantage that Adult Rated
has over its peers is that it
has gay and transsexual sections
in itself although these aren't
nearly as extensive as some
other sections here.
The presentation isn't quite as
good as it could be either.
Whilst the videos are split into
scenes, the decision not to tell
you which stars are in each
scene is a pain in the bum,
quite frankly.
With none of that DRM business
included though and the fact
that they add to this site on a
daily basis, you are left with a
puzzle as to why Adult Rated
doesn't get the praise that it
really deserves. Let's face it,
aside from a couple of
navigational features, this is
pretty much as good as any other
DVD download site that you could
wish to see.
