I've held the view for a long time that Oriental porn, or more specifically Japanese porn, is quite unlike porn made in the West. Their themes are often quite different and the execution similarly so. When I say all this I mean REAL Oriental content, not the stuff made in America and passed off as Oriental. One of the reasons why Asia Movie Pass is so irresistible is because it opts for movies that were born and bred in the Orient. In a market where there are loads of DVD download sites, many of them don't have this amount of videos and they aren't restricted to one genre either. The size and scope of Asia Movie Pass really is quite remarkable as a result and guarantees many, many high quality titles that fans of the genre will probably never even get close to getting through.
But there is a rather large cloud to this silver lining, and it's one of those great big fuck-off cumulonimbus thunderstorm clouds.
The navigation, general presentation and organisation here just isn't great. A model index and a real rethink of its download speeds are entirely necessary here. The latter of these was a real frustration - you can only download whole scenes, many of which are over 30 minutes in length, and it takes AGES. Seriously, if I download another one of these things then I'm going to be writing this from a bloody retirement home. All the signs are that they've never really tried to change things with regard to these things. It's a shame.
Having said all this, many people don't actually seem to mind this type of thing for one reason or another. When you bear in mind that for just under $30 per month you get such a massive archive of movies, almost certainly the biggest of its type around, you can understand why they might not mind so much. The movies are categorised really well if nothing else, and then, amongst other things, you get a similar site as a bonus that deals in anime movies called Anime Movie Pass. How's that for value?
