Ever
wondered what life would be like without download
speeds? |

Ladies and gentlemen,
meet Yoob. All the videos are streaming here and they
come on as soon as you hit the link. And there lies the one
particular point about Yoob that makes it stand out from the
crowd and the one thing that it needed to allow it to steal some
kind of march on its opposition. The other factor is that,
despite online going online in July, they already have a
selection of over 4000 videos to choose from.
It's quite an impressive start from a site that, initially,
doesn't look to have anything particularly special going for it.
Setting itself up as a 'TV type experience', it aims to
bring you videos in the least number of clicks, and it certainly
does that.
There are 20 different
'channels' you can watch different types of content on, but
these seem somewhat superfluous considering you can watch any of
the titles you want at any time through the categories. I like
the idea but I think they can do more with it.
Their manifesto of aims is an impressive and noble one, and
certainly suggests they are a site that will live up to their
promises. I don't actually know how they've managed to capture
so many videos in such a small space of time, nor do I know how
they manage those almost instantaneous download / streaming
speeds. I'm just glad they do manage it. This does all mean you
can't download and keep the videos but the cheap subscription
fees mean you'll want to keep visiting this one time after time
anyway.
It's fair to say that the whole look of the site is somewhat
sparse and there isn't a lot of information with the individual
videos. Plus, it's difficult to know at what rate they will add
other titles although at this stage you won't really be needing
an enormous amount of new ones. It's an intriguing site that
seems to have come from practically nowhere and I will be
interested to see where it goes in the near future.

Final
Word: |
|
Yoob is
an ambitious and interesting spin on the DVD / movie
download site with an instantaneously massive archive.
Also, any site that practically eradicates download
speeds gets my vote. |
